Despite its name (which means High Mines of Norway), Catas Altas da Noruega is an old, decaying, forgotten city lost somewhere in Minas Gerais.
It got this name due to the gold mines found on top of high, cold mountains, which looked like Norwegian fjords.

The golden age is gone, the mines are closed. Agriculture has been replaced by eucalyptus plantations.
The streets were deserted, I felt like walking in a ghost city.
The main church was closed, and some little chapels from the begining of 18th century have just been (badly) restored.
